Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Molecular Biology

Introduction

UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility.

Presentation

Prof. Macarena Marín is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher to join her research group at the Department of Plant Molecular Biology (DBMV) at the University of Lausanne.

Project description

Agronomically relevant legume crops establish symbiotic interactions with nitrogen-fixing bacteria, decreasing their dependency on costly and environmentally hazardous synthetic nitrogen fertilizers. Legume plants host rhizobia inside cells of specialized root organs called nodules. In our team, we aim to elucidate the genetic and cell biological adaptations required to accommodate high densities of bacteria inside these organs. We are searching for a new team member passionate about organismic interactions and with a strong background in transcription factors, transcriptional regulation and plant molecular biology.

This position is mostly research oriented. It is also associated to teaching duties of under graduate and graduate biology students.

Environment

The Department of Plant Molecular Biology is dedicated to elucidating the molecular mechanisms involved in plant development, abiotic stress response, and biotic interactions. It is home to nine internationally recognized research groups. As a part of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, the Department has access to a range of cutting-edge technology platforms, including genomics, proteomics, imaging, and bioinformatics core facilities. Our laboratory also collaborates with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL).
