Life Actuarial Reserving Analyst

Zurich North America is currently seeking a Life Actuarial Reserving Analyst to work out of our New York offices located at 4 World Trade Center. The successful candidate will play a key role in fulfilling the financial reporting and reserving needs of Zurich North America’s Life Insurance entities.

The Life Actuarial Reserving Analyst performs reserving or pricing tasks as assigned and performs more complex analyses under minimal supervision of more senior staff, all for the purpose of evaluating reserves and supporting financial reporting for our Life and A&H business or pricing business.

Additional responsibilities include:

Provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues.

Support calculations and produce analysis under IFRS 17, SST and local statutory bases across various Life and A&H portfolios.

Calculate profit margins on new and renewal business.

Analyze loss experience, loss trends and expenses, and evaluate pricing levels.

Coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analysis or analyzes various reserves.

Support the development of premium rates, rating plans and pricing and portfolio management strategies.

Where appropriate, provide product filing support.

Support Market Facing and Technical Underwriting on pricing decisions and throughout the product approval process.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area

OR

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate’s degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area

AND

Knowledge of insurance products and operations

Experience applying quantitative concepts

Experience communicating analysis results preferred

Preferred Qualifications

Project management experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills

FIS Prophet experience

Experience working with IFRS 17

Experience working with the Swiss Solvency Test or other economic solvency regimes

A strong Life product knowledge and in particular experience working with Annuities, Term Life, Universal Life, Indexed products, Variable Universal Life on both an Individual and Group basis
